Singapore General Hospital (SGH)
With about 1,500 beds and a pool of over 550 specialists, SGH accounts for about a quarter of the total acute hospital beds in the public sector and about one-fifth of acute beds nationwide. Together with four specialty centres – Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), National Heart Centre (NHC), National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) and National Dental Centre (NDC) – located within the SGH campus, patients have ready access to more than 30 clinical specialties. The SGH Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), the Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN), Postgraduate Allied Health Institute (PGAHI) and the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School are also established within the hospital for the professional training of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

National University Hospital (NUH)

Changi General Hospital (CGH)
With a total of 790 beds and offering a range of 23 medical services, CGH excels in Sports Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Gastroenterology. CGH works hand in hand with the adjacent St. Andrew’s community hospital to offer a full spectrum of patient care from medical to rehabilitative services to the population at the eastern part of Singapore. Its comprehensive range of services includes Knee Replacement, Cartilage Transplant, One-Stop Breast Service, Prostate Management, Urinary Incontinence, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy and Multiphasic Health Screening.

Institute of Mental Health/Woodbridge Hospital (IMH/WH)
IMH/WH, Singapore’s only tertiary psychiatric institution, is a 2,000-bed acute tertiary psychiatric hospital with 51 wards and three Outpatient Specialist Clinics, offering a comprehensive range of psychiatric, rehabilitative and counselling services meeting special needs of children and adolescents, adults and the elderly. The hospital's multi-disciplinary approach to patient care is supported by the Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Medical Social Work departments. IMH/WH also runs mental health education programmes for the public; coordinates and oversees the training of clinicians in psychiatry and conducts mental health-related research. IMH/WH is the first mental health institution in the region to receive Joint Commission International (JCI) certification.

Jurong General Hospital (JGH) - planned for completion by 2015
Jurong General Hospital is the newest member of the Singapore Public Healthcare system, Slated for completion by 2014, JGH will have 700 beds, providing acute inpatient and outpatient care to the population. The new JGH will be co-sited with a 200 –bed community hospital to allow better integration of acute and step-down care while ensuring efficient use or resources. As a hospital designed to put patients’ needs as the main focus, JGH promises to provide patients with a hassle-free, holistic and integrated care beyond the hospital into the community. Between August 2010 till 2014, JGH team will be serving patients at Alexandra Hospital, from which they will build their base.

Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH)
KKH provides specialised services in obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology and paediatrics. This 830-bed hospital offers a continuity of care with more than ten medical specialty centres and 45 medical specialties focusing on children and women. It is the only JCI accredited women’s and children’s hospital in Asia. With its host of medical specialties, KKH has become a major tertiary referral centre for medical specialties such as gynaecological cancer, urogynaecology, paediatric bone marrow transplant and neonatology, serving 500,000 women and children each year.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)
TTSH is the second largest acute care general hospital in Singapore, with specialty centres in Rehabilitation Medicine and Communicable Diseases. A 1,200-bed hospital, TTSH is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and medical equipment, as well as the latest communication and information technology tools. TTSH champions the development of Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Disease Management, Rehabilitation Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology, and Allergy & Immunology in Singapore. It is also a major referral centre for Geriatric Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Gastroenterology, Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Orthopaedic Surgery.

National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS)
The NCCS is a one-stop national and regional specialty centre directed at the prevention and treatment of cancer. Driven by Singapore’s largest pool of internationally qualified oncologists with a team of experienced nursing and allied healthcare professionals, the NCCS offers holistic and integrated clinical services to cancer patients. Beyond treating patients, the NCCS pushes for basic and clinical research, and training of medical staff to ensure the institution is always at the forefront in combating cancer.

National Dental Centre (NDC)
The NDC is a specialist dental centre offering a full spectrum of oral care covering Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. As the national specialty centre for dentistry, the centre sets the standard of practice in Singapore and emphasises on quality services provision – clinical and service delivery- to the patients. The centre is also actively involved in training undergraduates, postgraduates as well as practicing dentists on top of its commitment to clinical research.

National Heart Centre (NHC)
With over 9,000 inpatient admissions every year, the NHC is a 186-bed specialty centre for cardiovascular disease in Singapore. National Neuroscience Institute (NNI)
As the national specialist centre for the management of patients with diseases of the nervous system, the NNI is the only institute in Singapore with a dedicated Neuroradiology Department, providing a full suite of clinical neuroscience services to various hospitals in Singapore. Neuroscience specialist clinics are offered at the NNI-SGH and NNI-TTSH campuses. Besides offering quality patient care for over 20 sub-specialties, the institute also provides clinical neuroscience training and conducts basic and clinical neuroscience research in Singapore.

National Skin Centre (NSC)
As an outpatient specialist dermatological centre, the NSC offers specialised dermatological services for all skin conditions. On top of that, the NSC contributes to training of medical students and post graduates, and undertakes research in dermatology. In addition, the SNEC is actively involved in ophthalmic education, clinical trials and research into the causes and treatment of major eye conditions.

The Cancer Institute (TCI)
Tapping on its network with NUHS, TTSH, AH and NHG polyclinics, TCI integrates various cancer services and expertise to offer seamless and coordinated healthcare services ranging from prevention to recovery, and long-term health maintenance. Collaborating closely with the National University of Singapore, TCI has focused its research on diagnosis and treatment strategies for common cancer in local context.

The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS)
The NCIS offers a broad spectrum of cancer care and management covering both paediatric and adult cancers, with expertise in prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. The Institute’s strength lies in the multidisciplinary approach taken to develop a comprehensive and personalised plan for each cancer patient and his or her family. Additionally, the NCIS has an international reputation in translational research and clinical trials, providing patients with access to promising breakthroughs in cancer diagnostics, technology, and therapies. The NCIS is closely affiliated with the Cancer Science Institute, Singapore, of the National University of Singapore.

The Eye Institute (TEI)
Serving NUHS, TTSH, AH and NHG polyclinics, TEI covers 10 sub-specialties within ophthalmology to offer the full suite of tertiary care for all eye conditions. The integration of all eye services both horizontally across NHG’s institutions and vertically across the various levels of care has achieved synergy in providing patients greater quality and convenience. TEI also emphasises on training and research in attaining high clinical standards.

The Heart Institute (THI)
As the main NHG’s referral centre for tertiary cardiology care, THI taps on the resources and expertise from participating institutions in the areas of cardiology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery to provide seamless continuum of care to heart patients. THI spearheads the development of cardiology and cardiothoracic services and maintains common clinical standards across the institutions. THI is also actively involved in conducting training and research across the cluster.

The National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS)
The NUHCS brings together the resources, expertise and capabilities in the areas of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery to better meet the needs of the growing number of patients with heart disease. A key centre for the treatment and management of complex cardiovascular diseases, the NUHCS provides comprehensive patient care in the areas of heart failure, congenital heart disease, acute coronary syndrome and vascular disease. In close partnership with the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI), which works closely with both local and international renowned research institutes, new knowledge is constantly created to support the NUHCS’s core clinical programmes: heart attack, heart failure, congenital heart disease and vascular medicine.
